The Head of State launches the high-level forum on  the state of play of Burundi’s integration into EAC

The President of the Republic HE Evariste Ndayishimiye has launched on december 10th, 2020 the state of play of Burundi’s integration into the East African Community.

This forum with the following theme : “Let’s protect the interests of Burundi within the EAC”, took place in Bujumbura province exactly in Mutumba parish.

The Minister in charge of EAC indicated that, the forum is organized the day after the establisment of new institution and that the need to inform and familiarize them is really felt.

The Head of State HE Evariste Ndayishimiye has, on his speech, shown the important role played by the EAC in the development of Burundi since its integration.


He welcomed the existence of communication channels between the countries of the Community. Roads currently connect with non-member countries such as Zambia and the DRC.


President Ndayishimiye requested the development traffic through lake Tanganyika which has proved less costly and good at environment protection.
He urged the audience to be Laborious:
“we must remember that the Community is a meeting place for giving and receiving as à matter of fact we should double our labor in order to be full handed persons inside the Community” The President said.


HE President also said that the Community is an opportunity to expand our production. “Remember how long our fathers used to travel to the eastern countries to sell local production and came back with salt. This should continue” said HE Evariste Ndayishimiye while opening officialy the forum.

After the official launch of the forum, HE Evariste Ndayishimiye went to Kanyosha area to visit a corn field of the VASO cooperative in order to support farmers and inquire about the Star of production because, he himself took part in the sowing with the princess Zaad Al Hussein of Jordan.
