The President of the Republic, His Excellency Evariste Ndayishimiye signed, on Monday, March 22, 2021, in the condolence book at the Embassy of the United Republic of Tanzania located in Bujumbura Mayorship, to support the Tanzanian people following the death of their President , the late His Excellency John Pombe Magufuli.

As soon as his death was announced, on March 17, 2021, Burundi President immediately declared a 7-day national mourning from March 18 to 25, 2021 to express the support and solidarity of the Burundian people to their Tanzanian neighbors.

In addition, the Head of State sent a special envoy to Tanzania in the person of the Vice President of the Republic, His Excellency Prosper Bazombanza , to take part in the preliminary farewell ceremonies to the late Excellency President Magufuli.

Burial ceremonies for the late President of Tanzania are scheduled in Chato, his hometown, on March 25, 2021.
